The Challenge: Update a tired salary guide design, and create a series of three matching but distinction publications.
The Solution: Since the salary guides cover a wide range of positions and skills, we found a series of illustrations using icons, which we could then apply as spot illustrations on the interior pages.
Crandall Associates produces a series of trusted salary and position guides for the direct and digital marketing sector, which they sell as downloadable e-publications. The design of their guides was dated and didn’t reflect the quality of the information present in the guides. Worse, there was little consistency in the design between their three guides. We refreshed the design, using a bright, cool color palette and consistent layout. We also found a series of illustrations which utilized icons relevant to marketing – targets, bar graphs, light bulbs, etc. – to make up larger images. That permitted us to isolate the icons, and use them as spot illustrations (paired with stock photography) across the documents.
